Kandice Koehl stands next to her six-head embroidery machine at her business, Sew Much More. She embroiders logos to caps, polos, bags and more.
Single mother Kandice Koehl opened Sew Much More to support her 3-year-old son, Jayce.
Koehl, 23, of Victoria, worked at another Victoria embroidery shop for three years and learned she had a passion for sewing. Her shop opened Monday in a leased space at 1405 S.W. Moody St. She owns the business.
"I like the creativity, playing with the colors and making it fun (as well as) the excitement customers have when they pick up their items," she said.
The shop has a six-head embroidery machine on which Koehl can embroider any logo brought to her.
"Most people will come in the door and say, ‘Here's a picture of my logo. Can you put this on a cap for me?’" said Koehl's mom, Jennifer Heibel, 43, of Victoria. "Basically, what we do is we take that, send it off and have it digitized. We let the customer pick out a cap color and (we) sew it on that cap ... We do everything from caps, polos, bags, anything you can sew a logo on."
Koehl brings Jayce to work with her, where he has his own play area. She said he’ll learn by being at work with her.
"The perks of a family- owned business is you can bring your kiddo to work with you," her mom said.
Koehl's mom and grandmother will help her with orders until she's able to hire employees, she said. The family worked for two months to get the business ready. Her goal is to be quick and thorough to serve customers, she said.
"My family all came together to make this happen," Koehl said.
